STS Course Syllabi

The collection and posting of STS course syllabi is a project initiated within the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) as part of its outreach function. The project was conceived at a meeting in Cambridge, MA in January 2003. The goal is to make available to professors, students, administrators, and others with an interest in STS syllabi that reflect the most current approaches to teaching within the specialty area. Rather than limiting the collection to core STS courses, the desire is to provide users with a range of syllabi that capture diverse topics taught in this area.

The collection is organized by author, topic, level (undergraduate or graduate), program/department within which the course is taught, and language. By clicking on any one of these categories (in IE 5.0 or above), syllabi will be rearranged for your convenience.

This project is ongoing. New syllabi will be continually added and outdated ones deleted. Please consider contributing your own syllabi to the collection. You can easily do so by sending an electronic attachment to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), who is serving as coordinator of the web page. Each syllabus should include complete bibliographies. You also might include examples of projects, paper assignments, exams, or other material that you feel would be helpful. In the text of your message, indicate the level of instruction, the program/department within which it is taught, and language of instruction.

Thank you to all who have contributed syllabi. Also, thanks goes to the National Science Foundation, Program in Science & Technology Studies for funding the Workshop on Science & Technology Studies in the Liberal Arts Curriculum, from which the idea for this project was initiated.
